Farleigh Further Education College

Farleigh Further Education College in Frome was established in 2000 as an independent specialist residential college for up to 90 students aged 16 to 25 with Asperger Syndrome and associated conditions. A range of diagnoses may have been applied to our students, including autistic spectrum condition (ASC), pervasive development disorder or autistic or Asperger Syndrome traits.

At Farleigh Further Education College, we strive to support all our students in preparing for adulthood, feeling empowered to make choices and optimising their independent living skills.

In order to achieve this, we provide:

• An aspirational provision focused upon a positive understanding of autistic spectrum conditions
• One to three year intensive learning and independence programmes
• Access to mainstream further education through individualised tailored academic and vocational courses
• Clearly defined goals for education and therapy
• An opportunity for a work experience placement
• Preparation for employment, higher education and independence
• On site programmes including GCSE’s, A-Levels and vocational courses for some of our students who are not ready to attend mainstream college
