At Morgan Sindall Construction, our purpose is to enhance the lives of those we encounter as we create the places where they live, learn, work, play, care and create.
We are a UK construction business with a network of local offices across England, Wales and Scotland. We deliver public and private sector projects, from special works and repair and maintenance, to major landmark schemes delivered as standalone projects or as part of larger frameworks.
From schools, universities and hospitals to retail, office and leisure environments, we deliver the social infrastructure that surrounds us.
Starting your career in construction with us
There are a number of different ways to start your construction career with us. Here’s some information to help you decide what route is best for you:
As a trainee, you’ll study for a day release qualification. In addition, you’ll be enrolled on our in-house trainee development programme – this consists of four modules that will help you become more effective in solving problems, influencing others and presenting your work, so you’ll learn how to make an impact on the business right from the outset. As your career develops, you’ll be registered on an appropriate professional development programme. You will receive support from qualified mentors and will work towards professional registration on one of our approved or accredited structured professional training schemes.
Our apprenticeship programmes cover all areas from trades to professional and business.
Whether you are looking to pursue a career in a traditional skill like carpentry or bricklaying, or pursue a career in civil engineering, quantity surveying and construction management, apprenticeships are credible alternatives to degrees if you want to build a career in the construction industry. You’ll spend most of your time on-site, with the technical aspects of the course delivered on a day-release basis.
If you’re interested in forging a career in business administration or IT for example, why not make a start in construction? Programmes are flexible and you can be taught and assessed entirely in the workplace, or you can attend college one day a week. On many programmes you can start work at any time throughout the year.
Our apprentices enjoy a combination of practical, on-the-job learning and first-class teaching. You’ll spend one day in five in the classroom, where you’ll receive the instruction you need to build and develop your skills. This is a great opportunity to earn while you learn and, best of all, you’ll have the chance to make new friends and start building your professional reputation amongst colleagues, customers and subcontractors.
We offer three- and twelve-month placements at our projects across the UK. These are advertised on our job board usually from September-January.
During your time with us you’ll do real work, learning from an experienced mentor on a structured programme of development. Our programmes are regularly updated based on feedback we get from the people who take part – which means they’re tailored to make sure you get the maximum value.
We give our graduates the responsibility and development to make a difference to the UK’s communities and infrastructure right from the word ‘go’. Our graduates join from a variety of backgrounds as well as more traditional construction and engineering routes.
We believe that technical skills are important; but even more critical to your success here is the ability to work in a team, be open to change and demonstrate motivation for the sector. Routes we support include:
Civil and structural engineering
Mechanical and Electrical engineering
Safety, Health, Environment and Quality
We offer a competitive salary and benefits, an ILM accredited 27-month development programme and an inclusive and fun working environment.
