Our Lady’s Abingdon
At OLA it is our aim to help pupils on a journey of self-discovery. From Year 7 to Lower Sixth pupils have careers sessions designed to help them think about skills and qualities they have or would like to develop, and areas of interest which they might like to pursue as a job role or career.
Career Guidance Programme
The OLA Career Guidance Programme combines lectures, group discussions, on line assessments and one to one meetings with careers experts. The focus is on strengthening the pupils skills and qualities, developing employability skills, CV and letter of application writing and interview techniques. There is also an annual Abingdon Careers Convention which pupils are invited to attend from Year 10 upwards. In Year 10 we also provide a work experience week giving pupils the opportunity to learn first-hand from industry professionals.
Supporting the delivery of the Career Guidance Programme are teachers, tutors and parents as well as selected suppliers of career education, information, advice, and guidance.
