National Apprenticeship Week has begun, and if your business is looking to hire someone new or upskill a current employee, there’s never been a better time to do it.

There is a common myth that apprenticeships are only for young people just out of school or college but, they could be at any level – from those leaving education to university graduates, or those who want to further or change their careers.

Apprenticeships aren’t simply an exciting pathway to a quality career for those taking up the role. They have huge benefits for your businesses too. They are a great way of growing talent, keeping it in the Tees Valley, and developing a motivated, qualified, and skilled workforce.

Many employers point to increased relevant skills for their industry, improved productivity and refined products and services as major outcomes of taking on apprentices. You can adapt their skills to what you need to thrive and, best of all, there’s financial help and support available to do so.

Since 2016, the Tees Valley Mayor and Combined Authority have provided £4.8million in funding to help get people into apprenticeships. We’ve supported 1,525 businesses in different sectors across the region, helping to create 1,757 such roles in the process.

 

Tees Valley Jobs was created by Tees Valley Combined Authority in March 2021, following the news of the Treasury North relocating to Darlington and Teesworks becoming home to the UK’s largest Freeport, which brings opportunity for jobs in both the short and long term.

 Tees Valley Jobs is a one stop shop where local people can find out about the all the jobs on offer in the Tees Valley. The website covers all industries, with vacancies from across the whole of the region, and is constantly updated with new positions of all kinds.
